The 2024 Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches gets underway Thursday, February 29, and we’re picking a long shot who has been on a recent tear on the PGA Tour. Here’s our pick, the Cognizant Classic odds, betting favorites and everything else you need to know.
Cognizant Classic odds: Long-shot bet
This week the PGA Tour returns to the East Coast and storied PGA National, and we’re picking Doug Ghim (+6600) as our long shot to win.
Ghim got off to a lackluster start to his 2024 PGA Tour campaign, missing the cut at his first two events, the Sony Open and the American Express. But he’s been lights out since then.
In each of his last three events, the 27-year-old Illinois native has finished in the top 13: T13 at the Farmers Insurance Open, T12 at the WM Phoenix Open and T8 at last week’s Mexico Open at Vidanta.
Ghim doesn’t have a career resume any pro would envy, and he’s likely tired after his recent stretch of hot play and the travel it involved. But if he’s able to keep the hot streak going, he could capture his first career victory this week. And at +6600, it’s worth a small wager.
If you bet $10 on Ghim to win and he claims the victory, you’ll earn $660. For insurance, consider placing additional small bets on Ghim to finish top 10 and top 20.
Looking for more long-shot bets for the Cognizant Classic? Our honorable mentions this week are Erik van Rooyen (+6600) and Thorbjorn Olesen (+6600).
Cognizant Classic odds: The favorites
Four-time major champion Rory McIlroy is back in action on the PGA Tour this week near his home in Florida, and as a result he’s the prohibitive favorite with +750 odds-to-win.
