When you have a good thing going, it’s easy to rest on your laurels, but for the design and engineering team at Ping, that’s not their style. So, with the continued and growing success of the PLD putter line both on Tour and with regular golfers, Ping is adding five new Tour-proven models in 2024 along with new customization options.
The models in the 2024 PLD launch are the Anser, Anser 2D, Oslo 3, DS72, and Ally Blue 4 — all of which will be available at Ping retailers. On top of the new stock configurations, Ping’s online putter customizer tool gives golfers even more options to make their PLD Milled putter truly unique.

When asked about the success of the PLD Milled putter line Ping president John K. Solheim said, “We’ve been very pleased with the results and feedback across the entire PLD program. It allows us to bring golfers more of what we do best — design and build the highest-performing putters in the game. These five new designs continue that commitment and offer every golfer a model to fit their stroke and eye.”
How they’re made
Other than the new Ally Blue 4, which is constructed with multiple materials, all of the new PLD Milled models are fully CNC machined from forged 303 stainless steel and treated with a gunmetal finish. They also feature Ping’s deep AMP (aggressive milling pattern) to provide a soft yet solid feel at impact and better control over speed and distance.
To get an idea of the precision that goes into each putter, more than four hours of milling time is required to make each head.
The Ally Blue 4 is a fully machined, three-piece design differentiated by its square footprint and full-length top alignment aid. The strong-arc design consists of an aluminum body, stainless steel soleplate, and aluminum hosel to create an extremely high-MOI, easy-to-align mallet.
Make your putter yours
To further add to the possible customization, Ping offers the PLD Milled Plus option (priced at $585) to give golfers the choice of different alignment aids, graphics, putter and grip paint fill. Golfers can build and visualize their putters before ordering thanks to the Ping PLD customizer tool found at Ping.com
“The launch of PLD Milled Plus is an exciting program that allows golfers to further personalize their putters in fun and statement-making ways,” Solheim said. “It’s a great conversation starter and brings them one step closer to that tour-player experience so many golfers desire.”
Options include multiple, single, or no alignment features on four of the five models (the Ally Blue 4 cannot be customed in this manner). The top rail can be customized to be left blank or have an added dot or line.
Laser-etched graphics can be added to all five models and include dancing or single Mr. Ping logos, stars and stripes, and even money signs.
At the end of the online design process, golfers can take their uniquely designed putter specs to an authorized Ping PLD retailer to place the order directly to Ping’s HQ in Phoenix, where the putter will be manufactured.
“The (online) customizer was designed to be relatively easy, allowing the golfer to experiment with different ideas throughout the process,” Solheim said. “With all the alignment options and combinations, we wanted to have a performance benefit as part of the experience. After that, it’s all about color, custom graphics, and creating a putter they call their own.”
2024 Model Descriptions & Specifications
Ally Blue 4 — A new fully milled, three-piece design featuring an aluminum body and hosel, along with a stainless-steel soleplate to boost MOI.
Anser — The most recognizable putter in history gets a new white sight line for 2024 to contrast the gunmetal finish.
Anser 2D — This larger and deeper Anser head has been made famous thanks to Ping staffer Tony Finau’s success and has refined bumper geometry to help with alignment.
DS72 – Another model made famous by a Ping staffer, the DS72 is the putter of choice for Viktor Hovland and offers a thicker topline and larger sloped bumpers in the cavity to create easy-to-align visuals.
Oslo 3 – This short slant neck mallet uses an aluminum hosel to help reduce unwanted mass higher in the head to push weight lower and farther back to optimize the center of gravity. The Oslo is inspired by the putter used by Tyrrell Hatton.
2024 Ping PLD Collection
All straight shaft PLD models come stock with Ping’s newest custom-designed graphite composite putter shaft to fine-tune feel and balance.
