Cobra and KBS collaborated on a custom set of irons.
KBS
As collaborations continue to proliferate within the golf space, KBS and Cobra are upping the ante with something a little different. Instead of releasing a product run limited to 50 or 100, the two manufacturers have joined forces to create true one-offs that pair Cobra’s King Tour Forged heads with a unique KBS shaft coat.
The irons are part of KBS’s X Custom Vault that offers limited edition KBS shafts “in collaboration with recognizable brands.” For the latest pairing with Cobra, KBS made three different custom finish coats — ruby red, dino purple and ice blue. Only one iron set (4-PW) will be built with each shaft, and KBS confirmed they will not be re-produced.
In other words, when they’re gone, they’re gone.
As you’d expect with a one-of-one, the sets don’t come cheap. They’re currently available for $2,799.99 in three different KBS Tour shaft flexes, so if you’re someone who typically plays a stiff flex shaft, you’ll need to embrace the Dino Purple.
Ruby Red custom coat set features KBS Tour 110 (R) shafts
Dino Purple custom coat set features KBS Tour 120 (S) shafts
Ice Blue custom coat set features KBS Tour 130 (X) shafts
While the flex can’t be changed, each set can be built at +1/2″ (D6), Standard (D3), or -1/2″ (D0), and will come stock with Lamkin’s UTX Full Cord grey and black grips. All custom sets have a certificate of authenticity with matching serial numbers engraved on the shafts, along with a final spec build sheet.
The Cobra King Tour Forged heads affixed to the KBS Tour shafts have a matching paintfill and are designed for players who need ball speed and forgiveness in a more compact profile. Each iron has a CNC-milled undercut cavity within the back cavity, which repositions weight from high-center to low-center as well as more toward the heel and toe. The undercut cavities are deeper in long irons for more forgiveness and become progressively shallower in the shorter clubs for better shotmaking maneuverability.
