The golf industry’s leader in grips, Golf Pride, has officially partnered with Stephen Curry’sUnderrated Golf, to support greater inclusion in the game for student-athletes from every community and background.
For those not familiar, Underrated Golf was founded by NBA All-Star Stephen Curry to provide equity, access and opportunity to deserving student-athletes from underserved communities who may not otherwise be exposed to the full benefits of the game of golf and organized competition. The organization’s mission is to increase the participation of competitive golfers from diverse backgrounds and help mentor their success. It is also addressing golf’s gender gap by providing female players the same opportunities as their male counterparts.
The tour also helps expose golfers to collegiate golf programs and potential NIL (name, image, likeness) partners, along with a full scope of training, equipment access and leadership panels.
Golf Pride’s investment in the program will help fund college scholarships, plus employment internships for Underrated Golf athletes, and will also introduce a limited-edition custom grip kit highlighting details of the synergy between the two organizations.
“Stephen Curry’s Underrated brand is both inspirational and impactful to countless young people in our country,” says James Ledford, President of Golf Pride. “Partnering on this endeavor represents the next stage in our commitment to expanding inclusion and helping the golf industry foster more opportunities for everyone.”
This involvement is part of a greater initiative by Golf Pride to ensure diversity, equity and inclusion are at the forefront of their programs and partnerships which also includes its women’s equity platform that is designed to offer greater visibility of female golfers by highlighting their stories, journeys and contributions to the game.
“Underrated Golf and Golf Pride share a vision of providing resources to empower and inspire confidence for athletes of all backgrounds,” said Stephen Curry. “That’s why we joined forces to create a first-of-its-kind grip design that embodies these beliefs and helps elevate the golfers’ performance at every stage of their game.”
“Our organizations share a commitment to making the game of golf for everyone,” says Eric Gibson, Golf Pride CCO. “There is significant work to be done to make our vision a reality, but through this partnership and our investment in Underrated Golf we are influencing more and more diverse young people to get involved in the industry and create the change we all want to see.”
