In this new era of LIV Golf and Designated Events, multi-million-dollar winner’s checks are no longer as awe-inspiring as they once were, but this week’s purse at the Players Championship is still deserving of a second look.
While the Designated Events’ $20 million purses pay $3.6 million to the winner, the Players Championship’s purse has been upgraded to a whopping $25 million, bringing the winner’s share to a eye-popping $4.5 million.
The top-five finishers will all clear seven figures, with fifth place taking home $1.025 million. The riches extend all the way down the finishers’ list, with 41st and better earning more than $100,000, and 75th place bringing home $48,750.
It should be a memorable battle on Sunday, with Scottie Scheffler in the driver’s seat, two shots ahead of the field. A win will launch him back into the top spot in the world ranking.
Scheffler will play the final round alongside Min Woo Lee. You can see the viewer’s guide and complete Sunday tee times here, and check out the 2023 Players Championship payout breakdown below.
