The PGA Tour’s regular season comes to an end this week at the Wyndham Championship, and according to the Wyndham Championship betting odds via BetMGM, past Open Championship winner Shane Lowry is the favorite. Here’s what you need to know.
2022 Wyndham Championship odds: This week’s favorites
Next week the FedEx Cup Playoffs officially get underway in Tennessee, but before we get there, we have one last tournament to decide in North Carolina. With many top pros taking the week off, Lowry is the oddsmakers’ pick to win at +1400. But there are a lot of players close behind with a great shot this week.
World No. 14 Will Zalatoris is among them. Zalatoris has had a great year despite having not picked up a victory. He finished T20 at last week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic and enters the Wyndham with +1600 odds to win.
Billy Horschel (+2000), who won the Memorial in June and finished T21 at the Open Championship at St. Andrews, is close behind.
But if you’re looking to entrust your money to a hot hand, one who will give you great value, your man is Taylor Pendrith (+3300). Pendrith nearly won the Rocket Mortgage last week. He was tied for the lead heading into the final round, but an even-par score left him with a T2 finish, five shots behind Tony Finau.
2022 Wyndham Championship odds: Long shot of the week
Taking the honors of long shot this week is Sam Ryder. Ryder is 50/50 on cuts this year: he’s made 14 and he’s missed 14. But he has three top-10s on the season and five top-25s.
The 32-year-old Korn Ferry Tour graduate showed some serious signs of life in Detroit last week. He finished T24 at 11 under, but if not for a third-round 72, he would have been right in the mix on Sunday.
This week, Ryder’s odds-to-win sit at +15000, and with a lot of the best players sitting it out, it’s the perfect opportunity for a winless pro like Ryder to make a breakthrough. Should he do so and you bet $10 on him, you’ll walk away with $1,500.
