Coming out publicly wasnât an easy decision for Mel Reid, because she wasnât sure how people were going to react. But she did because she wanted to be honest about herself and who she was. And, hopefully, to inspire others to do the same.
âThat was my of giving back to the game of golf,â she told Claude Harmon III during her guest appearance on CHIIIâs new podcast, which you can subscribe to right here. âIt was me saying: âhey, this is me. Iâm trying to be the best version of myself and so should you.â
Reid went onto explain, which you can watch for yourself above, that it wasnât about seizing the spotlight for herself, but rather underline a simple truth.
âI just wanted to express to be who you are. The world would be a better place if you are,â she said.
âHopefully itâs inspired a few people and educated a few people.â
