It’s not surprising that Garrett Leight California Optical and Jones Sports Co have joined forces. Both brands create west-coast-inspired lifestyle products specifically designed for people who spend lots of time outdoors — surfers, hikers, skaters and, of course, golfers.
In fact, Leight himself, GLCO’s founder and CEO, is a very avid golfer. He and Jones’ Creative Director, Chris Carnahan, played golf together at Bandon Dunes and decided it was high-time they collaborate. Leight knew that there was a place in the market for a performance lens with a trendy frame. Too many golf-specific sunglasses are all performance focused and detract personal style. Carnahan got to work on a lifestyle utility daypack and GLCO x Jones set was born — both the sunglasses and the daypack are being sold together ($395).
The glasses merge one of the most iconic silhouettes from the Garrett Leight collection with a premium lens called Trivex. They’re impact-resistant, lightweight and have color-equalizing technology that will make it easier to see your ball against the grass on even the brightest of days. They’re also 100% UV protective.
The minimalist navy and orange daypack is made from weatherproof Ballistic nylon to keep your goods protected from the elements. The inside of the pack is printed with both Jones and Garrett Leight’s logos and celebrates GLCO’s 10 year anniversary. It includes a soft microsuede interior with mesh compartments for small items, a padded laptop sleeve, adjustable padded shoulder straps and exterior mesh water bottle pockets. Basically this is the go-everywhere bag you want whenever you leave the house.
