Our take: Tucked inside a sleek blade profile is a hollow-bodied construction comprised of a 17-4 steel body and C300 steel face that provides what PING calls metalwood-like performance. A HydroPearl Chrome 2.0 finish ensures control in wet or dry conditions.
ClubTester’s take (5-hdcp): “Just goes forever. Tough to tell when looking at the profile. Hides the forgiveness well.”

PING i500 Irons
This blade style iron is geared towards the low-mid handicap player that is seeking minimal offset. Players can expect a softer feel on shots struck across a larger portion of the face.The i500 is constructed like a metal wood (hollow stainless steel body and maraging-steel face), which is the same material in G410 fairway woods and hybrids. At impact, the clubface flexes like a wood, which results in faster ball speeds and longer shots than previous models. The irons have a milled face and grooves as well as the HydroPearl Chrome 2.0 finish (rough face texture and smooth on the sole) to improve shot consistency from imperfect lies.
