‘Appreciate his greatness’: Tiger Woods tweets to congratulate Rafael Nadal on U.S. Open title
Rafael Nadal took down Daniil Medvedev in five sets to win his 19th grand slam title on Sunday, and while it doesn’t appear that Tiger Woods was in attendance, Nadal’s buddy took to Twitter on Monday to congratulate him.
“Appreciate his greatness @RafaelNadal,” Woods said, quote tweeting a Nike post about the fellow Nike athlete.

The star athletes have a pretty close relationship and have watched each other on site in their respective sports before. Woods watched Nadal (and Serena Williams) already at this year’s U.S. Open and has been to several other Nadal matches. Nadal was in the Bahamas for Woods’ first start of his most recent comeback at the 2017 Hero World Challenge, walking inside the ropes with a large entourage at Albany.
Woods wasn’t the only pro watching Nadal inch closer to history (he’s now one shy of Roger Federer’s grand slam record), as several other pros chimed in as well.
