Staff picks: Vineyard Vines performance quarter-zips are perfect for the office and golf course

June 28, 2019

Welcome to GOLF’s Shag Bag, a monthly feature that runs in GOLF magazine and tells you, the reader, exactly where we’re playing, what we’re buying, and more, when it comes to the sport we all love.

What we’re wearing
Vineyard Vines performance quarter-zips. When I think about quarter-zips, I think lazy office attire, but then Jim Nantz hooked me up with one of these beauties. It’s a slick look you can rock to work that’s also not heavy or dragging on your golf swing. — Sean Zak

What we’re drinking
Highland Park 12. My newly minted father-in-law, Doug Fagan, gave me a bottle; it’s got a nice smoky flavor overlaying a rich honey base. It’s probably my favorite whisky around, and my go-to after a fun round on the links. — Luke Kerr-Dineen

What we’re buying
Adidas Women’s Beyond 18 Joggers. These pants are as comfortable as leggings, but add a bit of casual street style to my on-course wardrobe. Instant love. — Jessica Marksbury

What we’re eating
Sure, you can get any number of nutrition bars to throw in your golf bag, but how many of them are endorsed by a golf Hall-of-Famer? “The Big Easy” has made it simple to keep my energy up and the hunger pangs down with his surprisingly delicious Els Bar. It’s high in protein, gluten free and a sensible hot dog alternative. — John Ledesma

What we’re snacking on
My go-to is technically a drink—a Chobani drink, to be exact. It’s basically a pre-made portable smoothie (that’s also super easy to toss into your golf bag). Recently, a co-worker went into the fridge at our office and asked me what it was. All I said was, “It’s delicious—and don’t steal my drink.” — Rachel Bleier

Where we’re playing
The Ocean Course at Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Fla. I snuck off for a round on the Jack Nicklaus design while on a recent Florida vacation and was blown away. It has a great mix of fun and challenging holes that test your shotmaking ability from the opening tee, but you gotta be sharp to score here. The runoff areas around the greens are daunting, and there’s water lurking everywhere. The good news? No one has ever complained about six gorgeous oceanside holes. The par-4 18th is practically on the beach. — Josh Berhow
