Here’s what you missed from Round 2 of the Travelers Championship

June 22, 2019

The second round of the Travelers Championship is in the books, and things are heating up at TPC River Highlands.

Here’s everything you missed from Friday’s action in Cromwell, Conn.

Zach Sucher leads

Sucher followed up a first-round 64 with a second round of 65 on Friday to lead the the field by two shots. The 32-year-old is playing on a sponsor’s invitation to a Korn Ferry Tour member.

Sucher made four birdies, an eagle and one bogey on Friday. His best finish on the PGA Tour this season is T-35 at the AT&T Byron Nelson. He’s seeking his first Tour victory this week.

Keegan Bradley is two shots back

Keegan Bradley’s second-round 66 was highlighted by a hole-out for eagle on the driveable par-4 16th. Bradley has two top-10 finishes so far this season, and a win this week would mark the fifth of his career.

Several other big names are in the hunt

At six shots back or less, Paul Casey (-7), Jason Day (-7), Louis Oosthuizen (-6), Patrick Reed (-6), Tommy Fleetwood (-5), and Bubba Watson (-5), are all in the hunt heading into the final round.

Bubba Watson is the defending champion, and also won the tournament back in 2015 and 2010.

Some high-profile players are saying goodbye

You had to go low to make the cut at TPC River Highlands this week. Only players who were two under par or better will be sticking around for the weekend.

Notables to miss the cut include Daniel Berger (+2), Jordan Spieth (+2), Tony Finau (+2) and Phil Mickelson (+3). Mickelson’s second round performance (76) is particularly surprising, considering he was three under par after the first round.

What about Brooks?

After a first-round 71, Brooks Kopeka rallied on Friday with a second-round 66. He’s now T-47 at three under par overall.
