New adjustability in Ping’s G410 Plus driver was well worth the wait

Designed to replace the previous (and excellent) G400 driver, the new Ping G410 Plus driver ($500) features additional adjustability via an improved loft sleeve and a 16g moveable back weight with draw, neutral and fade settings.

While some might wonder why Ping engineers would suddenly offer a moveable CG weight now when others have had them for quite a while, the answer is typical of the Ping design philosophy.

Dr. Paul Wood, Ping’s VP of Engineering, says, “The mandate we’ve always had is that you can do all sorts of adjustability and fitting options, as long as we’re not taking a step back on some of the fundamentals. When we can get to a point where we’re not sacrificing MOI or CG location, then we can do it. Everyone wants all of the sliding weights and adjustability, but that comes with a tradeoff—do you want to sacrifice stability for more yardage?”

We’ve hit this thing. Ping, we’re glad you waited.
