April 21, 2019

The Zurich Classic begins Year 3 of its revamped team format on Thursday as the PGA Tour heads to New Orleans, which has hosted the event annually since 1958.

The Zurich turned into a team event in 2017, and all four of its winners — Jonax Blixt and Cameron Smith (2017) and Billy Horschel and Scott Piercy (2018) — return and are paired up again.

Other headlining teams include Australians Jason Day and Adam Scott, Europeans Sergio Garcia and Tommy Fleetwood, brothers Brooks and Chase Koepka, and Patrick Reed and Patrick Cantlay.

The format is best-ball on Thursday and Saturday and alternate shot on Friday and Sunday. The field consists of 80 two-man teams and is cut to the low 35 teams and ties after 36 holes. The purse is $7.3 million and the winning team gets $2,102,400, or $1,051,200 each.
