Two PGA Tour pros don’t have the approval of their peers.
In an anonymous poll conducted by Sports Illustrated, PGA Tour pros voted Rickie Fowler and Ian Poulter as the most overrated players in golf with both receiving 24 percent of the vote.
Fowler, 26, has one lone Tour victory, coming in the 2012 Wells Fargo Championship. Last year, he finished in the top-5 for each of the major championships, becoming only the third player in history to do so alongside Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus. As the face of Cobra-Puma Golf, Fowler is the world’s richest and most famous one-win player.
Poulter, 39, has two PGA Tour victories, the most recent coming in 2012, to go along with 12 Euro Tour wins. The brash Englishman has eight top-10 finishes in major championships and has earned more than $17.19 million in his career.
Bubba Watson and Hunter Mahan received the third- and fourth-most votes in the poll. Check back Tuesday for full results of the PGA Tour Pro Anonymous Poll on GOLF.com.
