Muirfield Village fountain overflows with bubbles in apparent prank prior to start of Memorial Tournament

May 28, 2019

The entrance to Muirfield Village, the host of this week’s Memorial Tournament, turned some heads on Monday morning.

According to WBNS, an overnight police officer spotted the club’s fountain on the intersection of Glick Road and Muirfield Drive overflowing with bubbles, and by Monday morning it was still overflowing onto the roads.

WBNS 10TV reporter Laura Borchers stopped by to take a few snaps of the apparent prank.

Authorities told WBNS that the plan was to let the bubbles run their course and dissolve on their own. They are still investigating who is responsible.

Muirfield Village, located in Dublin, Ohio, is hosting one of the best non-major fields of the season this week. The tournament, hosted by 18-time major winner Jack Nicklaus, is highlighted by Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler, Phil Mickelson, Jordan Spieth, Bryson DeChambeau, Justin Rose and Justin Thomas, among others.

Woods, Rose and DeChambeau, the defending champion, are in one of the featured groups. The other marquee groups are the threesome of Matt Kuchar, Fowler and Mickelson, Thomas, Spieth and McIlroy, and Jason Day, Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama.
