What’s the best way to cap a round at Torrey Pines? Ordering this delectable Drugstore Burger

January 22, 2020

Welcome to Clubhouse Eats and Drinks, where we’ll introduce you to our favorite food and drink at some of the best golf courses, golf resorts and golfy locations around. Cheers!

The PGA Tour is currently in the midst of the West Coast swing, and this week, the world’s top players (including Tiger Woods!) are making their annual stop at Torrey Pines for the Farmers Insurance Open, a publicly-accessible gem in La Jolla, Calif., mere minutes from San Diego.

In addition to 36 holes of fantastic golf (the North and the South courses), Torrey is also home to the Lodge at Torrey Pines, a beautifully appointed onsite hotel, which is itself home to a fantastic restaurant, the Grill at Torrey Pines. The Grill will no doubt be hopping this week, as it not only offers panoramic views of the course (complete with outdoor firepits!) but also one of the best burgers in the area: The Drugstore Burger.

There are few menu options that are as satisfying as a post-round burger, and this particular iteration of the classic entree features a soft sesame bun (steamed with the grease from the patty), mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and cheddar cheese, has been rated as one of the best burgers in San Diego.

Wash it down with a locally-brewed beer like Thorn St. Brewing Co.’s Barrio Lager, and you have the ultimate meal — regardless of whether or not you played golf that day.
