Justin Thomas was in New York this week in advance of next week’s Northern Trust event in New Jersey. With plenty of time on his hands, the reigning player of the year made a stop at NBC’s 30 Rockefeller Plaza for The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Thomas is the most recent pro to do so, following in the footsteps of Jordan Spieth, Patrick Reed, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. To no surprise, just off the heels of the PGA Championship, Thomas was asked what it was like having Woods contend in St. Louis. Predictably, the discussion arrived at the roars.
“I had a par putt on 17 on Sunday, about a 5-footer,” Thomas said. “At that point, I didn’t really have a chance to win. I made the putt and am kinda walking off the green and everyone just went nuts. I’m like, ‘That’s kinda weird. Why are they going so crazy?’ I turned around and they put Tiger making another birdie up on the scoreboard [laughs].”
Fallon and Thomas discussed the upcoming Ryder Cup, an event in which Thomas will be making his debut, and played the show’s classic Face Breakers skit. They upped the ante for the quick competition with FedEx donating $1 million in the name of the victor. Check it all out in the clips below.
