If you are good enough to make it this far in the FedEx Cup Playoffs, you will be rewarded—handsomely.
The FedEx Cup hands out a staggering $35 million in bonus money (and will be even more outrageous next year, when it increases by $25 million to a total of $60 million).
But how exactly is that money distributed? Well first of all, winning the Tour Championship is a near must for most players if they plan on bringing home the grand prize of $10 million in bonus money. But there are plenty of scenarios where each player can win (that format, however, is also getting a facelift next year).
Everyone who finishes in the top five in the FedEx Cup this season will earn at least a million in bonus cash. And that money doesn’t include what they get for their finish in the Tour Championship, which alone has a $9 million purse.
After the $10 million the first-place finisher of the FedEx Cup receives, the runner-up gets a bonus of $3 million, third place gets $2 million, fourth $1.5 million and fifth $1 million. The player who finishes 30th gets $175,000 in bonus money, and even those who didn’t make it into the top 30 and the Tour Championship still grab nice bonus checks—if you finish in the top 70 you are guaranteed at least $110,000.
