During the final round of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, Tiger Woods stood with his caddie Joe LaCava on the 14th hole when a spectator became disruptive, yelling at and harassing Woods. On ESPN Radio on Wednesday, LaCava revealed what happened next:
“I said, ‘Why don’t you just leave?’ He goes, ‘Well, if you give me the $25 for the ticket I bought today, I”ll leave.’ So I go, here’s $25.”
Unfortunately for LaCava, the $25 wasn’t enough to get rid of the heckler. He continued to call LaCava names until he was removed from the tournament by security. Fans applauded once the heckler was gone.
As LaCava says in the ESPN interview, getting the heckler removed wasn’t just about keeping the peace: “At the end of the day, if you affect him [Tiger] or his performance, you affect my bottom line.”
