PURSE: PGA Championship payout breakdown and winner’s share

ST. LOUIS — The purse for the 100th PGA Championship at Bellerive Country Club was announced, and it’s a record $11 million, up $500,000 from last year at Quail Hollow Club.

The winner receives a record $1.98 million, an increase of what Justin Thomas took home for winning last year ($1.89 million).

The runner-up at the 2018 PGA still grabs a cool million, though, with a check of $1.188 million. Rounding out the top five payouts is $748,000 for 3rd, $528,000 for 4th and $450,500 for 5th.

As for the other majors this season: Patrick Reed won $1.98 million for his Masters victory, Brooks Koepka brought home $2.16 million at the U.S. Open and Francesco Molinari cashed in $1.89 million at the British Open.

The payout for the top 70 is below. Players who make the cut but finish below 70th will be paid in diminishing increments of $100, beginning with $19,500 for 71st. Players who missed the cut received $3,100 each.
