Giving your junior golfer the same golf ball you use isn’t doing them any favors; that’s why Bridgestone has come up with a fun solution.

The company, in partnership with junior golf club maker and youth golf organization U.S. Kids Golf, is introducing the new Boom It Junior golf ball. The ball is specifically optimized with an ultra-low compression and a high-launch dimple pattern to help juniors with slower swing speeds compress it and get maximum carry.

“We take ball fitting very seriously and with junior golf seeing more than 50 percent growth since 2019, it makes perfect sense for us to create a ball to meet their needs,” Bridgestone president Dan Murphy said in a release. “Our R&D team focused on the needs of junior players that require more speed and easier launch, and they knocked it out of the park. I am confident junior players will have more fun playing the Boom It Junior because it is specifically designed to fit their game.”

Bridgestone says the golf ball works for a variety of swing speeds, which makes it perfect for a junior golfer who is developing speed as they progress through the game and grow physically.

The Boom It Junior also features Bridgestone’s MindSet graphic, which was developed by Jason Day and his performance coach, Jason Goldsmith, to separate analytical thinking from athletic performance. Day, along with Chris Gotterup, Kurt Kitayama and Boo Weekly, all use the visual technology in competition on Bridgestone’s Tour B golf ball.

“We were proud to work alongside the Bridgestone team to help create Boom It Junior from the ground up, specifically engineered to provide young golfers with the distance, feel, and performance they need to enjoy every round,” U.S. Kids Golf President and Founder Dan Van Horn said. “Boom It Junior is a golf ball that meets the mission of U.S. Kids Golf by supporting the growth of and a true love of the game.”

The Boom It Junior will be available online and at retailers starting March 27. Each dozen will cost $22.99.

Bridgestone’s new Tour B line of golf balls has been on the PGA Tour for less than a month, but already it’s off to a hot start.

With Chris Gotterup’s second win of the season at the WM Phoenix Open coming just three weeks after his first, the 2026 Bridgestone Tour B X ball has made an auspicious debut.

The new Tour B X features a new core material called Velo Surge, which, during testing (in which both Gotterup and Jason Day participated) showed an average increase of 2.3 mph in ball speed and 8.7 yards of added distance vs. other new Tour B balls. Tiger Woods also said he saw an increase in ball speed and confirmed he would use the new ball upon his return to competition in 2026.

“With the new TOUR B X, I’m getting max speed and distance off the tee, and total control when it matters most around the greens,” Gotterup said in a release. “As far as I’m concerned, this is the best golf ball I’ve ever played, and the sky is the limit for the rest of the season.”

Gotterup has played the Tour B X since signing with Bridgestone in 2023, which is the longest and firmest ball in the Bridgestone lineup. Woods also switched to the model in recent years from the softer and spinnier Tour B XS.

For players who have under 105 mph swing speed, Bridgestone also offers the Tour B RX and Tour B RXS, which are softer than the Tour-level offerings and easier to compress for slower swingers.

Gotterup plays the MindSet model, which was developed by Day and his coach as a three-step process to help players lock in during the golf swing.

Gotterup was fully dialed in Phoenix where he opened with a 63 and finished with a 64 to make the playoff. Including of his bonus-hole birdie, Gotterup birdied six of his final seven holes.

Just three weeks after Chris Gotterup won with Bridgestone VS Black Proto, he’s now scored the first official win for Bridgestone’s new Tour B X Golf ball.

Gotterup is somewhat rare in terms of gear, as he’s a Bridgestone staffer who uses only their irons and golf balls. Gotterup games the 220 MB irons, which are the first clubs Bridgestone has released since 2019.

But the company’s primary product on the PGA Tour is its golf balls, which it recently refreshed with a new VeloSurge core material to increase ball speed.

Whenever Tiger Woods makes his long-awaited return to professional golf, he’ll do so with a new golf ball.

Bridgestone Golf announced its new 2026 Tour B golf ball lineup on Tuesday, featuring a new VeloSurge core-mantle integration technology, which testing showed gave golfers 2 mph more ball speed and nearly 9 extra yards of distance.

“I am always looking for more pop off the tee, and this new ball absolutely delivers,” Woods said in a press release. “I’ve trusted Bridgestone for more than 25 years, and this one takes performance to a whole new level.”

What’s actually new with the 2026 Bridgestone Tour B — and why you should care

The new Tour B series was developed from the VS Proto Project (short for VeloSurge), which identified the new core material and began testing it with amateurs and Bridgestone staff pros.

According to the company, VeloSurge delivers a “seamless synergy” between the mantle and the core. The mantle layer is also denser, which increases the golf balls MOI, driving faster ball speeds.

“It took a tremendous amount of work to develop VeloSurge Technology and the new family of TOUR B golf balls,” Bridgestone president Dan Murphy said in a release. “The results speak for themselves, and I’m confident saying this is undeniably the most advanced iteration of the TOUR B golf ball we’ve ever produced. Anyone who gets fit for the new TOUR B will immediately see the difference in ball speed, distance, accuracy and durability.”

During VS prototype testing, which included Jason Day and Chris Gotterup, as well as amateur players, testers of all speeds experienced average speed gains of 2.3 mph of ball speed equating to 8.7 yards of distance.

Matt Kuchar used the VS Proto Black (Tour B X) to win the PNC Father-Son last December and Gotterup used the same ball this past weekend to win the Sony Open.

Chris Gotterup’s star power continues to rise as he just picked up his third PGA Tour victory to kick off the 2026 season at the Sony Open.

Gotterup is a bit rare when it comes to gear, as he’s a staffer with Bridgestone, who only uses their irons and golf balls. Gotterup games the 220 MB irons, which are the first clubs Bridgestone has released since 2019.

The rest of his bag is made up of mostly TaylorMade clubs and a Ping G440 LST driver.

There are a few changes for Gotterup from his last win last summer in Scotland, including the absence of his 16-year-old TaylorMade RSi TP 1-iron, which was only thrown in for links golf season.

The most notable change is Gotterup’s golf ball, which is the new Bridgestone VS Black Proto. The new ball is actually what will be announced as the 2026 edition of the Bridgestone Tour B X on January 20.

Bridgestone is still mum on details around the new ball, but did say the prototyping process went through 20 different material formulations and over 240 prototypes. The breakthrough was a completely new material discovery.

In November, the company teased testing results with regular golfers showing an average increase of 2.3 mph in ball speed and 8.7 yards of added distance with different VS Proto balls. Tiger Woods also said he saw ball speed increases and confirmed he would play the new ball upon his return to competition in 2026.

Matt Kuchar also used it last month during his win at the PNC Father-Son with his son Cameron. But now Gotterup has kicked off 2026 with the first official PGA Tour win for the new ball.

One other change since the Scottish Open was a full move into TaylorMade’s MG5 wedges, which were still in the prototype phase in July.

Chris Gotterup’s Scottish Open win was impressive. His ball striking held up across four demanding rounds, and he trusted a full set of Bridgestone 220 MB irons to get it done.

For most golf fans, that might’ve been a surprise. For me? It just brought everything full circle. 

Back in January and February, I got deep into testing Bridgestone’s newest forged iron lineup: the 220 MB, 221 CB, and 222 CB+. I went through all of them on the monitor, on the grass, and even put together a combo set that lived in my bag for several full rounds over a couple months.

New Bridgestone premium forged irons and wedges: 5 things to know

Here’s the truth: If I were going to game Bridgestone’s irons full time, this would be the setup. But I’m also honest about my game, and I need a little more help more often.

Still, this test gave me a ton of insight into just how good this lineup is for the right player. Here’s what I learned:

220 MB: A blade that made me feel better than I am 

I went into testing with an open mind but modest expectations. The 220 MB is a true muscleback; compact, clean, forged at ENDO and made for elite ball-strikers. But what I didn’t expect was how playable it actually is. 

– Tightest dispersion of the three heads 

– Most consistent ball speed, even on slight misses 

– Predictable launch and spin numbers across the face 

– Clean turf interaction and precision shot control 

On the monitor, the numbers spoke for themselves. The 220 MB didn’t have the hottest ball speed, which isn’t its job, but it was the most repeatable. If you’re the kind of player who values control and consistency over pure speed, this iron makes a strong case. 

My build: 220 MB 5-iron to PW, 221 CB 4-Iron 

After testing indoors and outdoors, I built a combo set I felt could be seriously playable: 

– 5-PW in the 220 MB for control, feedback and consistency 

– 4-iron in the 221 CB for a little more help launching it when I needed it 

It didn’t take long to see the logic. In the bay, I didn’t notice a massive drop-off in the MB 4-iron. But out on the course — with firmer lies, tighter turf and real- world conditions — the difference was obvious. The CB gave me that little bump in launch and forgiveness that made the 4-iron a more reliable option when the pressure was on. 

On-course impressions: A blade that performs when it counts 

Over the course of multiple rounds, this combo set proved itself in a big way. 

Flight and trajectory: The ball flight was exactly what I like: mid-high launch, stable, and neutral. I could work it both ways easily, and even on windy days, I didn’t see any surprises. These irons keep the ball on a string. 

Distance control: This was arguably the best part of the 220 MB. Carry distances didn’t jump or dip. Every number felt predictable, especially from 7-iron down. I could be aggressive knowing the ball was going to launch and spin exactly how I needed. 

Feel and feedback: Forged at ENDO, and it shows. The 220 MB is as soft and solid as anything I’ve tested. It gives you precise feedback without feeling harsh, even on slight misses. That’s the kind of thing that makes you want to keep hitting balls, just to hear and feel it again. 

Turf interaction: Smooth. Crisp. No digging. No bounce clunk. The soles are shaped with intention — camber, width and relief all feel dialed in for real turf conditions, not just mats. That’s what separates a “feels good” iron from a “plays good” one.

Why aren’t they still in the bag? 

Simple: I’m just not that good! 

I’m a solid player with a decent swing, but I don’t have my best stuff every day — and when I don’t, I need a little more help than the 220 MB gives. Over the testing rounds I played, I saw what they could do in capable hands, but I also saw how much I relied on my timing and contact to keep things tight. 

If you’re an accomplished player who doesn’t need tech-driven help in every shot, this setup (220 MB 5–PW, 221 CB 4i) is money. But if you’re like me, and you want a little more margin when your swing shows up at 85 pecent, you might need something a bit more forgiving full-time. 

The best blade most golfers don’t know about 

Chris Gotterup winning with these irons shows what they’re capable of in the right hands, and my own testing backed that up in a big way. For the skilled ball-striker, the 220 MB is one of the most consistent, best-feeling blades on the market. And the 221 CB pairs with it perfectly to round out a clean combo set. 

I don’t still have them in the bag. But if I had the game for it?  This would be my build. No question.

While we don’t know when Tiger Woods’ next start might be, we do know one piece of gear he won’t be changing when does return.

Bridgestone, Woods’ longtime maker of golf balls, announced it had re-signed the 15-time major champion, along with four other staffers, to play the company’s Tour B X golf ball.

Woods and Bridgestone have a long history as the company is now Woods’ longest-running gear sponsor since he split with Nike at the end of 2023. Woods first signed with Bridgestone in December 2016 after Nike left the hard goods business earlier that year, but Woods later confirmed it was indeed Bridgestone who manufactured the Nike-branded golf balls he was playing.

“I have played a ball manufactured by Bridgestone since my memorable 2000 season. Since the beginning, Bridgestone has continued to innovate and lead the golf ball category in terms of technology, performance, and consistency,” Woods said in a press release announcing his extension. “They are great at what they do, and I look forward to continuing to work with their R&D team to design industry-leading golf balls.”

Upon signing with Bridgestone, Woods initially played the Tour B330 S golf ball which was eventually updated to the Tour B XS ball Woods won twice with in 2019, including his 15th major title at the Masters. But early last year at the Genesis Invitational, after testing during a 2022 edition of the Match, Woods switched to the lower-spinning Tour B X after seeing an additional 10 yards of carry.

“I am always seeking more distance off the tee and more control around the green, that’s the Holy Grail, and what Bridgestone’s delivered with the new Tour B X,” Woods said last year.

Both the Tour B X and Tour B XS are urethane-covered Tour-level three-piece golf balls designed for players with over 105 mph swing speed (players swinging slower than that are targeted for the Tour B RX line). The Tour B XS is the higher-spinning softer option while the Tour B X is firmer, spins less and is faster.

In addition to Woods, Bridgestone also announced that Matt Kuchar, Fred Couples, Boo Weekley and Chris Gotterup are also extending with the brand. All four will continue playing the Tour B X or Tour B XS golf balls, while Gotterup continues to play the recently released forged Bridgestone 221 CB irons, the first new clubs the company has released in five years.

Bridgestone is also adding Harry Hall and Kurt Kitayama to it’s PGA Tour staff to play golf balls.

Just because you use a certain type of club in one model, doesn’t mean you’ll use that same type of club with a different model or brand.

Fully Equipped co-host Kris McCormack had that experience in testing Bridgestone’s new 200 series irons.

Bridgestone Golf announced their first new golf clubs in five years — the 220 MB, 221 CB and 222 CB+, along with two forged wedges — earlier this week and on this week’s Fully Equipped podcast, McCormack, a 2-handicap golfer, revealed he had been testing the irons and surprisingly found the best results with the 220 MBs.

“I was even surprising myself with how consistent that ball flight was, because I don’t consider myself a good ball striker by today’s standards, but I would say that I’m better than average for iron play, but I wouldn’t call myself good. And that MB was awesome,” McCormack told fellow co-host Wadeh Maroun.

McCormack has regularly been gaming a split set of cavity back irons, so to really find success with a set of muscle backs caught him off guard. But the interesting thing is that the set McCormack uses has forged short irons and cast long irons. He makes the split after the 6-iron, the same iron he was testing in the forged Bridgestone product.

Maroun wanted to find out more about the difference in feel between the new cubs and McCormack’s current set where he has Ping i230 long irons.

“Feel wise, definitely a little more responsive, more feedback. I had a little more control with the Bridgestone as far as being able to shape shots,” McCormack said. “The thing that I noticed was the 230 for me, higher launch, a little bit higher spin, so obviously gave me more control and stopping power coming into the greens.

“But the Bridgestone, I was really, really happy with look, sound, feel. Would I put it in the bag? Definitely needs more testing outside just to see kind of what turf interaction looks like. But it checks all the boxes in the bay for numbers that I would be ideally looking for. Just haven’t had a chance to take them on the golf course yet.”

Whenever a new set of forged irons emerges from a Japanese foundry, we take notice — especially when they come from a renowned brand like Bridgestone Golf. The all-new 220 MB, 221 CB and 222 CB+ irons confirm that Bridgestone is still betting big on the premium forged iron category.

And not just with irons.

Bridgestone also announced Tuesday a new set of forged wedges are coming soon. Here are 5 key things to know about the new iron and wedge collections from Bridgestone.

3 new iron models

There are three ultra-premium Bridgestone Golf clubs to choose from:

— 220 MB: A traditional muscle back design featuring Tour Groove Design for consistent spin and maximum shotmaking versatility.

— 221 CB: A one-piece forged design with a small cavity back for a slightly higher MOI and a slightly wider sole for improved stability. Additionally, the 4- and 5-iron versions feature a dual pocket cavity for improved trajectory and control.

— 222 CB+: These irons feature a dual pocket cavity throughout the set, offering a lower CG, higher launch and improved vibration dampening at impact. Combined with a wider sole, the 222 CB+ is the most forgiving model of the three.

The 220 MB and 221 CB come equipped with Nippon PRO Modus3 Tour 120 steel shafts, while the 222 CB+ comes with Nippon PRO 950 GH steel shafts.

Wedges come in two configurations

Bridgestone has also introduced new forged wedges, the BRM2. These feature a milled groove design with an aggressive pattern inspired by the company’s Bridgestone Tire technology. The wedges are available in two sole configurations:

— M-Grind: For players seeking versatility and playability with open-faced shots.

— A-Grind: A higher bounce setup for increased forgiveness.

The BRM2 wedges come with Nippon PRO Modus3 Tour 120 steel shafts and are available in 52-, 56- and 58-degree lofts for the M-Grind, and only 58-degree loft for the A-Grind.

Endo manufacturing is a big deal

When it comes to precision forging, Japan-based Endo Manufacturing is legendary for its attention to detail and quality. Knowing that Bridgestone collaborated with Endo to develop these new irons and wedges, it’s a safe bet these have the potential to be among the elite forged irons of 2025.

New line marks pivot for Bridgestone

The new line marks a pivot for Bridgestone and how it wants to be perceived in the market.

“For now, we’re taking a scaled approach to clubs, focusing on premium irons and wedges with a heavy emphasis on fitting and customization,” Bridgestone Golf president Dan Murphy said in a release. “We have always believed strongly in golf ball fitting and the importance of playing optimized equipment. We’re applying the same approach to clubs and encourage anyone interested in our premium forgings to take the time to get fit.”

Availability

All three new Bridgestone irons and both wedges will be available later this month. The 220 MB and 221 CB will be sold in 4-PW sets for $1,050 while the 222 CB+ will retail for $900 in a 5-PW set. BRM2 wedges will sell for $150 each.
