Tiger Woods went on a birdie bonanza in his third round at East Lake, where he rang up six birdies in his opening seven holes to grab a five-shot lead. As Woods closed in on his first title in five years, athletes, celebrities and media who follow the game could hardly contain their enthusiasm on Twitter. After all, what is Twitter for? A sampling:

What @TigerWoods is doing is not at all surprising to me, it was always gonna happen when he got his body and swing in order!

To all the people who can’t understand the attention Tiger Woods gets: aside from the fact that he’s one of the most dominant athletes of all time, he’s leading the tour championship just a year and a half after a spinal fusion, a year after being ranked outside the top 1000.
