Top 100 Teachers: Tiger Woods Will Win Another Tournament

December 9, 2015

Will Tiger Woods win another professional golf tournament?

In his revealing sit-down interview with TIME, Woods told veteran golf journalist Lorne Rubenstein he’s not ready to quit: “I don’t want it to happen. With all my heart, I do not want to stop playing golf.”

In the Hero World Challenge press conference that preceded the interview’s release, however, Woods sounded more ready to call it a career than ever: “I think pretty much everything beyond this will be gravy.”

GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 Teachers aren’t ready to write off Woods just yet. In a recent poll, a majority of instructors said that even after the three back surgeries in less than two years, the 14-time major champion is still a good bet to win another tournament.

The USGA/R&A ban on anchored putting is set to take effect Jan. 1, 2016. The initial announcement of the decision in 2013 raised several questions about the goal of the governing bodies in banning the technique, but tempers seem to have subsided more than three years later.

Our Top 100 Teachers say the ban will impact the game differently at varying levels.

The 2015-16 PGA Tour season has already produced six first-time winners in seven events. With so many young pros on the verge of sustained success, who has the best chance to turn in a breakout season? There are several worthy candidates.

Thomas won the third event of the 2015-16 season, the CIMB Classic in Kuala Lumpur. He had seven top-10 finishes and earned nearly $2.3 million last season. Another win or two this season and Thomas will prove our Top 100 Teachers right.
