The first major of the year is just six weeks away, which means the days are numbered to log your Masters bets. One bettor is already pretty deep in on the action.
According to Jeff Sherman, a golf oddsmaker in Vegas, there has already been a hefty Tiger Woods bet placed — $10,000, to be exact — for next month’s tournament. Woods’s odds? Twelve to one.

If Tiger is to make good on it, he’ll net the bettor $120,000 and one incredible story.
While Sherman is a go-to source for odds and line movement in the golf world, he doesn’t typically post about futures bets he takes. This one, however, is clearly worth discussing. Woods has not won a major since the 2008 season and has not won at the Masters since 2005. But Vegas and Woods have a very interesting past, as Woods’s dominant form in the 2000s incited abnormal action. Bets on who would win an event — Woods or the field — were common. He has also won four green jackets in his career.
Nowadays, Woods’s true percentage chance of winning the Masters is lower than ever, but the bubble that surrounds him in Vegas remains in a watered-down form. At 12-to-1, Woods is tied with Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose, but slightly trails the favorite Dustin Johnson who is listed at 10-to-1.
Last year, Patrick Reed won the Masters with 40-to-1 odds, paying out handily for anyone who backed him, like our own Josh Sens.
