An expert’s four favorite sunscreens for golfers to use on the course
Dr. Larry Bishop, a Melbourne, Fla.-based dermatologic surgeon, counts many golfers as patients, so he knows a thing or two about sunscreen. Below are his favorites, culled specifically for their usefulness on the course. Put them on 30 minutes before you head outside, and reapply every two hours.
Coppertone Sport SPF 50 Sunscreen Spray
“The ease of use, combined with evenness of application, makes this sunscreen a winner.”
Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch SPF 45 Dry Touch
“It goes on easily and disappears quickly upon application — and it doesn’t leave you with greasy hands.”

Neutrogena Pure & Free Baby Sunscreen SPF 50
“Pro tip: Use a ‘tears free’ children’s formula sunscreen for your face. The last thing you need when lining up a shot is a searing trickle of sweat and sunscreen in your eyes.”
Coppertone Kids Tear Free Mineral-Based SPF 50 Lotion
“This is another good option for your face. When applying ‘no tears’ sunscreens, make sure you warm the sunscreen in your hands before application. The warmth speeds the application and allows the sunscreen to go on more evenly.”
