British Open Weather Forecast: Cold, wind await Open competitors Saturday at Portrush

Through two rounds at the 2019 British Open at Royal Portrush, the weather in Portrush, Northern Ireland, has turned out exactly as expected: it has been completely unpredictable. The British Open weather forecast for Saturday’s third round looks much the same.

British Open Forecast: Saturday’s Third Round

Rain showers and gusty winds were swiftly replaced by blues skies, and back again, repeatedly during Thursday and Friday’s play at the British Open. So far, though, the weather has not truly challenged players, and scores have been relatively low.

On Saturday, temperatures will be similar, though slightly lower, than they have been so far this week. They’ll start near 55-degrees (F) when the first groups tee off for the third round. Temperatures will rise steadily all day to a high of 62 F in the evening, according to Weather.com.

Players will once again have to battle occasional roaming rain storms, but the chance of precipitation will hover around 15-20% all day. That’s a bit lower than it has been through the first two days.

The part of the weather forecast that will give players the most problems is the wind. It’s predicted to stay steady at 15 mph on Saturday. That should give nervous competitors some extra attention.
