Augusta National asks area schools to schedule fall break for Masters
Just under two weeks ago, the Augusta National Golf Club announced that it was rescheduling the Masters for the fall.
Now it’s lining up its workforce and rental houses.
The ANGC, two newspapers reported, has asked the Aiken Public Schools to schedule a fall break to coincide with the tournament, moved to the week of Nov. 9 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The schools typically schedule a break around the Masters’ April dates, the Augusta Chronicle reported, as students are hired as workers for the tournament, and families leave town in order to rent out their homes for incoming visitors.
“Our desire is to be as accommodating as possible to our community partners and to provide our employees and students opportunities to be a part of working and or participating in this annual event,” said an email from the school district, according to the Aiken Standard.

The Standard reported that the district’s school calendar for 2020-21 has already been established.
“We certainly want to be as flexible as possible to help maintain the level of community involvement that makes the Masters as special as it is to visitors as well as all who call the CSRA (Central Savannah River Area) home,” the email said.
