The 2025 U.S. Open purse is hitting pause on its steady uptick over the last several years, but remains the biggest purse of all the major championships at $21.5 million.
The U.S. Open purse has increased significantly since 2021, when it was $12.5 million. Since then, it’s nearly doubled, rising to $17.5 million in 2022, $20 million in 2023, and $21.5 million in 2024 and 2025. The U.S. Open’s total purse is $1.5 million more than the PGA Tour’s Signature Events, which offer $20 million purses. The Players championship remains the richest purse in golf at a total of $25 million.
This year’s U.S. Open Champion will receive the same payout received by the 2024 champion, Bryson DeChambeau, with a $4.3 million payday. The runner-up will receive a cool $2.322 million, and third and fourth place will clear seven figures too, with a payout of $1.459 million and $1.023 million, respectively.
Even the players who missed the cut will receive a payout of $10,000 each. So how much did the rest of the players in the field come away with this year? You can find a complete list of the 2025 U.S. Open payouts for each player below.
