The 2023 U.S. Open purse has increased significantly over the years.

Just two years ago, in 2021, the purse was set at $12.5 million, and it was the most lucrative payout out of all the major championships. How times have changed!

Last year, the 2022 U.S. Open purse increased to $17.5 million, a $5 million jump. And this year, the 2023 U.S. Open purse jumped yet again to a whopping total of $20 million. (The Players Championship remains the richest purse in golf at a total of $25 million.)

To save you from doing the math, that’s a $7.5 million purse increase in just two years. What a time to be a pro golfer!

This year’s U.S. Open champion will surpass the payout received by 2022 champion, Matt Fitzpatrick, by an impressive $450,000, with a $3.6 million total payday. The runner-up will receive a cool $2.16 million, and third place will clear seven figures too, with a payout of $1,413,430 million.

Even the players who missed the cut receive a payout of $10,000 each. So how much did the rest of the players in the field come away with this year? You can find a complete list of the 2023 U.S. Open payouts for each player below.
