The biggest purse and winner’s share of the 2025 PGA Tour season is up for grabs on Sunday at the Players Championship.
The Players purse is a whopping $25 million, the third straight year it’s been at that number. A winner’s check of $4.5 million goes to the champion, making it the largest winner’s check in golf (excluding the Tour Championship with its FedEx Cup bonuses).
Scottie Scheffler has won the last two Players titles — taking home $9 million total over the past two years — although it looks like someone else is going to take over the top spot on Sunday at TPC Sawgrass’ Stadium Course.
Tee times for the final round of the Players were pushed up a couple of hours on Sunday due to the threat of severe thunderstorms entering the Jacksonville, Fla., area around 1 p.m. ET. Players went off in threesomes and from both tees. Even if play is delayed early Sunday afternoon, there is a chance it could resume afterward and still finish on Sunday night.
J.J. Spaun opened the day leading at 12 under, with Bud Cauley one back at 11 under. Lucas Glover and Alex Smalley were both nine under to start the day, and three others — including Rory McIlroy — started eight under.
One-third of the way into the final day, there are three players tied at 11 under (you can follow along here).
