#PlayingThrough: How the golf world is coming together to spread positivity

March 21, 2020

In these uncertain times, golf has been a welcome reprieve. All over the country people are still playing a version of the game to pass the time, whether it’s on a course, in their backyard, or indoors.

For the golf-obsessed, the grind never stops, and the fun doesn’t have to either. Whether you’re chipping into a garbage can, building a mini-golf setup out of household items, or pounding drives down the fairway, we want to see how you’re #playingthrough.

This challenge started with our staff sending around their whacky home setups and brought some fun to an otherwise tough week.

We wanted to share this positive energy with the golf community, so we launched the #playingthrough campaign to see how some of our friends were passing the time.

Callaway’s staff jumped in on the fun right away.

As did TrueSpec’s and Miura’s teams.

Even 2-time MVP and and three-time NBA champion Steph Curry got in on the fun, showing off his short game with a trick shot reminiscent of a layup.

No to be outdone, former professional tennis player Mardy Fish took Curry’s shot to the next level with a backyard setup any avid golfer would die for. (And his trick shot was pretty good too.)

When you thought Curry and Fish couldn’t be topped, the golf community stepped up to show off their creativity and skill, like this person who nailed it on the first(!) try.

And then there was this shot that gave new meaning to spin in golf.

Building your own golf hole in the yard just to get your practice is next level dedication.

Getting in on the fun is easy. All you have to do is post a video showing us how you’re #playingthrough these crazy times. Use the hashtag, challenge a few friends and tag @golf_com — we’ll be featuring our favorites over the coming days and weeks to keep spreading the positivity.
