Watch full highlights of Adam Scott’s 2019 Australian PGA victory

December 22, 2019

Adam Scott doesn’t always win as he perhaps should. But when he does, he does it in style. On Sunday, the 39 year-old Australian captured his 30th professional win and second Australian PGA Championship with a victory he said was a “long time coming.”

Scott trailed for most of the tournament, but snatched the 54 hole after birdieing two of his final three holes to finish his third round at 10 under for the tournament.

Scott was solid from tee-to-green all day, as he so often is, but it was ultimately two clutch par saves that won it for him. The first came on the 12th hole, when he needed to take an unplayable but still salvaged a par, and the next on the 17th, when he missed long of the green but got up-and-down. That meant he could afford a bogey on the 18th hole and still prevail. In the end, he only needed a par.

“After a good save on 12 it was time to do something and I was behind so there was opportunity for everyone and I was the one who took them today,” Scott told the AP. “I’m stoked. This has been a long time coming and I’m really happy to win another PGA here. It finishes off a nice year for me.”
