Michelle Wie joining Golf Channel as Solheim Cup analyst this week

September 11, 2019

Notably absent from the 2019 Solheim Cup is Michelle Wie, who has been hampered by a nagging wrist injury in recent years. Despite not being on the American team, Wie will still be involved with the matches in Scotland, this time as a studio analyst for Golf Channel.

Wie’s new role, announced by the network Wednesday, will mark her debut as a TV analyst, but her Solheim experience is second-to-none. Wie was a member of the last five American teams, 2009-17, and has been on every team since she joined the LPGA Tour.

“I’m excited to join the Golf Channel crew to give my views and inputs on a great event that means so much to me,” Wie said on GolfChannel.com. Her career record in the biennial event is 8-9-1.

Due to the aforementioned injury, Wie is on a self-imposed break from golf for the rest of 2019. According to Golf Channel, her first appearance on the air will be Friday afternoon (Eastern time) following the first round of matches in Scotland.
