WATCH: Jack Nicklaus drains an absolute bomb from off green to win tournament

Jack Nicklaus ended his professional playing career a long time ago, but he still has serious game on the golf course. On Tuesday, the 18-time major champion proved that again with an epic tournament-winning putt.

Nicklaus is 79 years old, but he keeps up with an incredibly busy schedule full of golf and business responsibilities, while still occasionally finding time to play the game he dominated during his career. Nicklaus gave us a sneak peek of what that means when he shared a video of his most recent golfing exploits.

In the post, Nicklaus explains that he participated in the Sycamore Hills National Pro-Scratch Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Sycamore Hills GC in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Jack had promised his “longtime friend” Tom Kelley he would team up with him in the two-day event. And it went well. Really well.

In fact, according to Nicklaus, the pair won the Legends Division at the tournament, though he jokingly added that it was a “small field?.”

More important is how they won. Nicklaus found himself lying about 15 yards off the 18th green, with a large swale between him and the putting surface. He needed to finish strong to “make sure on 18 that [they] didn’t lose in a scorecard playoff,” and he didn’t disappoint.

Nicklaus made a powerful stroke to get his ball through the longer grass around the green, and then watched as it reached the collar, then rolled 15 more feet directly into the cup.
