Phil Mickelson had an unusually fiery day on Twitter (and everyone loved it)
Phil Mickelson joined Twitter in the fall of 2018, not long before The Match vs. Tiger Woods in Las Vegas. Since then we’ve seen a lot of Phil on social media — him dancing, telling stories and more.
But on Wednesday, we saw a fun and fiery Mickelson, who had no problem replying to anyone and everyone.
It started when Golf Channel’s Will Gray mentioned Mickelson didn’t play in the BMW Championship Pro-Am. Gray called it a notable absence, and it was, since Mickelson will now tee off Thursday having not played a practice round and needs a top-six finish to advance to the Tour Championship. Mickelson, surprisingly, responded.
Thanks for noticing. I did a pro am dinner last night for 100 dealers and customers instead.

But Phil’s day was just getting started. Just one minute later — one minute! — Mickelson took a playful shot at Luke Donald. Donald quote tweeted a Golf Digest story that teased Mickelson saying “for anyone to say [greens books] slow up play is flat out idiotic.” Donald said, “Guessing I’m an idiot then,” before defending his case. Mickelson replied.
We agree one one thing at least

Then, a little later, came many more great responses from Mickelson. Here’s a quick rundown.

Don’t we all?

A banner day for Mickelson, to say the least. Already a fan favorite for obvious reasons, Mickelson interacting on Twitter will only gain him more supporters outside of the ropes.
Mickelson’s first round of the BMW Championship begins at 10:26 a.m. ET on Thursday. He’s grouped with Keith Mitchell and Jim Furyk.
