Viewers guide: Charles Schwab Challenge tee times, TV schedule, purse

May 21, 2019

After a quick detour in New York for last week’s PGA Championship, the PGA Tour will complete the Texas swing with its final event in the Lone Star State this week, as the Charles Schwab Challenge is set to get underway at historic Colonial Country Club. The Fort Worth track is a current inclusion on GOLF’s list of the Top 100 courses in the U.S.  Though the tournament is lacking big names like Brooks Kopeka, Dustin Johnson and Tiger Woods, there are plenty of other high-profile players populating the field.

Justin Rose, currently ranked third in the world, is the defending champion. He’s grouped with Francesco Molinari and Brandt Snedeker for the first two rounds. The trio will begin their first round at 2:06 p.m. ET from the 1st tee, and their second round at 9:06 a.m. ET on No. 10.

With 10/1 odds to win, Rose is the betting favorite. The 38-year-old’s most recent Tour win came this past January at the Farmers Insurance Open.

After Molinari, Bryson DeChambeau is the next highest-ranked player in the field. He’ll tee off at 8:55 a.m. ET alongside Max Homa and Rickie Fowler on Thursday off of No. 10, then at 2:55 p.m. ET on Friday off tee No. 1.

Jon Rahm, Rickie Fowler and Jordan Spieth have the next best odds to win this week at 12/1. Spieth is coming off a season-high finish of T-3 at the PGA Championship. Fowler won the Waste Management Phoenix Open earlier this year, while Rahm won the recent Zurich Classic with partner Ryan Palmer.

Another notable group: Rahm, C.T. Pan and Xander Schauffele. The trio will start at 1:55 p.m. ET on Thursday afternoon off No. 1 and 8:55 a.m. ET on Friday afternoon on No. 10.

Schauffele, currently 9th in the world, enters at 16/1 odds. He finished T16 at last week’s PGA Championship and has four career Tour victories, including two this season: the WGC-HSBC Champions and the Sentry Tournament of Champions.

Pan missed the cut last week, but claimed his maiden PGA Tour title at the RBC Heritage during the week after the Masters this year.
