PGA Championship 2019: Adam Scott charges up leaderboard in Round 2 at Bethpage
After firing a quiet first-round 71 at Bethpage Black on Thursday, Adam Scott is charging up the PGA Championship leaderboard in Round 2, powered by a sizzling front nine that included four birdies and no bogeys.
The former Masters champ then birdied the 11th, 13th and 14th holes to get to seven under par on the day, launching himself 39 spots up the leaderboard into second place. The secret to Scott’s incredible round so far? In addition to good ball-striking, he’s making putts like crazy.
Here’s a rundown of all of Adam Scott’s birdies in Round 2:
-He sunk a 25-footer on No. 1
-He sunk a 38-footer on No. 2
-He sunk a 28-footer on No. 3
-He sunk a 14-footer on No. 5
-He sunk a 12-footer on No. 11
-He sunk a 6-footer on No. 13
-He sunk an 8-footer on No. 14

That’s an impressive collection of putts, to say the least. He also had to drain two testy seven-footers to save par on Nos. 7 and 10.
Scott is currently ranked 27th in the world and is seeking his 15th career PGA Tour victory. He has one major victory on his resume (the 2013 Masters) but has also had a lot of close calls, with 16 top-10 finishes in major championships since 2002. Five of those finishes were at the PGA Championship, including a third-place finish last year.
