In 2017, accomplished junior golfer turned club professional Daniel Meggs was 27 years old, and preparing to start a life with Jordan, his high-school sweetheart and girlfriend of 11 years. Meggs played collegiate golf at Wake Forest University and was working as a golf instructor at TPC Piper Glen in Charlotte, N.C. But three weeks before his wedding date, Daniel received life-changing news: he had colon cancer, and — to make bad news worse — it was diagnosed as stage 4.
For the past two years, Daniel and Jordan have been battling the disease as a united front. But the time-consuming nature of receiving treatment has taken a financial toll, so a GoFundMe was established last week to help defray Daniel’s ongoing medical costs and time away from work.
In her latest update on Daniel’s progress, Jordan writes that Daniel had to be hospitalized over Easter weekend, but they received hopeful signs that Daniel’s tumor and lymph nodes are shrinking.
Family and friends have rallied around the couple, and some big-time names in the world of golf have also lent their support. Jack Nicklaus called to speak to Daniel, and even Tiger Woods delivered a heartfelt video message, which you can watch in its entirety below.
