Women’s golf tips: A quick and easy way to increase your swing speed — without touching a club!

Lexi's swing is a great example for why squats are great for golfers.

You won't hit it like Lexi Thompson overnight, but every player can benefit from an increase in clubhead speed.

One of the more pronounced differences between male and female golfers is grip strength. I have noticed a direct correlation between one’s ability to generate clubhead speed and how much pressure they can squeeze out of a dynamometer (a grip pressure measurement device).

Men clearly win this strength test, but the good news is that there are ways for women to create more strength in their hands.

One of the fastest and easiest ways is to squeeze a medium to firm stress ball. I recommend squeezing it as hard as you can 10 times in the palm of each hand every day.

Once you develop additional grip strength in your hands and forearms, your ability to control the club at  higher speeds will increase and you will see an increase in clubhead speed — and extra yards.
