Welcome to Golfer to Golfer, where we tap into the insights of one avid player in hopes that the rest of us can take away something that might improve our own games.
I’m a GOLF Top 100 Instructor, and at the start of this year I started pouring myself into YouTube. It’s been a fun process, and really encouraging to see so many golfers consume my videos.
If you are a do-it-yourselfer, here are five of my most viewed videos that you can learn from.
The worst place to hit a driver for distance is in the heel of the club face. In this video, I help you understand and identify the heel of the club face. It’s called variable training: I explain what it is and how it can help expedite finding the sweet spot of your driver. Along the way, we’ll also identify the major faults that may lead to your heel hit and gives a solution for each.
2. An Efficient Golf Swing For Seniors
My golf school is located in Naples, Florida which is a retirement community. I’ve spent over twenty years teaching seniors, and in this video, I share three adjustments senior golfers can make for a more efficient golf swing. These swing changes are geared not only to provide more distance but also provide a repeatable golf swing for consistency.
3. How To Shallow Your Golf Swing
Shallowing the golf club has been a real catch phrase in golf instruction over the last few years. There have been plenty of articles and videos addressing this hot topic. In this video, I give you my take on what it means, while offering simple solutions. I start by defining what steep and shallow means in a golf swing, what ball flight goes with each as well as when in the golf swing they occur. I explain the different types of geometry a golf swing can have before providing concrete solutions to shallow your golf swing for good.
4. How To Create A Centered Pivot
Classic golf instruction is to “load up” behind the ball and drive forward trough impact. Golf instructors have recently discovered a more efficient movement pattern through science and the use of 3D equipment in golf instruction. In this video I take you through this evolution of the golf swing. I start the video by defining a centered pivot and explaining the many benefits. I’ll also provie and demonstrate a feel along with two drills to assure a centered pivot in the golf swing.
5. Stop Shanking Your Wedges
What is more discouraging than driving the golf ball dead down the middle of the fairway 80 yards from the green and shanking your next shot into the trees? In this video, I explain the dreaded shank with a wedge that plagues too many golfers. I start the video by defining the heel of the wedge known as the hosel and gives a simple way to figure out if you’re striking the heel. Then, I’ll offer and demonstrate two actionable solutions to help never shank a wedge again.
