GOLF Top 100 Teacher Tony Ruggiero to open new academy
GOLF Top 100 Teacher Tony Ruggiero announced this week he will be opening the Frederica Learning Center in St. Simons Island, GA. The new facility, which will open August 7th, will feature a slate of experts to help golfers improve their games.
Ruggiero, a member of GOLF’s Top 100 Teacher ranking since 2017 and the coach to multiple PGA Tour players including Lucas Glover, Sepp Straka, Zack Sucher and Tom Lovelady, says the academy wil pursue the same holistic approach he takes with his PGA Tour clients.
The central aim is to bring the same level of resources PGA Tour players have to any golfer, in the same relaxed, fun atmosphere that made him the subject of a GOLF Magazine profile last year.
“I think any time you can have the best players in the game and the best teachers and coaches in the game hang out at the same place you have the opportunity to create a special and unique atmosphere. Frederica is a special place and the energy there will be different than any other learning center. I’m excited to bring students to Frederica for a complete improvement plan built by the world class team we have around us.”

Ruggiero’s new learning center will feature programs with lead instructor Jackson Koert; performance coach Mac Barnhardt; PGA Tour Mental Coach Dr. Greg Cartin; Biomechanist Dr. Scott Lynn and Fitness expert Scott Fedisin. Wayne Flint and Mark wood will also be joining Ruggiero for the various junior programs on offer.
The academy, which Ruggiero describes as “old school with a heavy use of tech,” will include state of the art technology like Swing Catalyst, Trackman, Foresight Quad, and K-Vest.
