Why Lexi Thompson turns to a special snack on the golf course
Lexi Thompson has been open about her ongoing focus on body positivity and healthy eating habits. That means dialing in her mid-round snacks for peak performance—and enjoying some well-earned treats afterwards.
Pre-round: “What I eat before a round depends on the time of day, but it’s really important. I make sure I eat correctly so I get the right amount of energy. I’ll have some carbs, but I’ll make sure to have a good amount of protein so that energy will last throughout the entire day.”
Mid-round: “For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich while I’m playing.” (Thompson gladly took on a Smuckers sponsorship for just this reason). “I add in a protein bar and some mixed nuts in my bag, and usually eat every 3-4 holes. That way I keep the energy high throughout the round.”

Post-round: “If it’s just a regular night, then I’ll keep it simple with something relatively healthy that’ll have me feeling ready to go the next morning. But if it’s Sunday night and I’ve played really well—and especially if I won—I splurge. I go pizza and ice cream and treat myself!”
