The Etiquetteist: 7 rules to follow for bluetooth speakers on the golf course

April 20, 2019

Jammin’ out on the golf course has gone mainstream — but when it comes to playing with bluetooth speakers, The Etiquetteist has some suggestions. Consider the seven maxims that follow the Bluetooth Laws:

BUY-IN

Each member needs to be down for the sound. Ask first.

VOLUME

Public or private, a course ain’t the place for “this one goes to 11.”

GENRE

Choose wisely. Speed metal and syrupy transitions don’t mix.

VERBOTEN

Spoken word; polka; selects from your niece’s bassoon recital; show tunes.

RULES

Music may illegally assist play (Rule 14- 3). Know thy mute button.

THEMES

Nice idea. Perhaps “Sultans of Swing” or “Fly Like an Eagle”?

TAUNTING

Play nice. Jay-Z’s “No Hook”? Cool. Metallica’s “Enter Sandman”? Cruel.

Listening to music on the golf course is all well and good — as long as everybody is on the same page.
