SPOTTED: In-hand photos of four new TaylorMade ‘Truss’ putters

Remember when Tiger Woods was spotted testing a TaylorMade “Truss” prototype putter at the Japan Skins event? Well, now we have a better look at that unique putter design, and it also seems TaylorMade has made the Truss into an entire family of putters.

On the putting green at The American Express in Palm Desert on Monday, TaylorMade revealed four new Truss putters to PGA Tour players. Each of the four models — TB1, TB2, TM1 and TM2 — have a triangular piece of material that connects the toplines of the putters and the hosels.

While TaylorMade hasn’t commented yet on the Truss putters, it seems that the TB1 and the TM1 models have a heel-weighted design, and the TB2 and the TM2 models have more of a center-shafted design.

The definition of truss is “a framework, typically consisting of rafters, posts, and struts, supporting a roof, bridge, or other structure.” Since a truss typically adds stability to structures, it’s not a stretch to think the Truss putters are designed to add stability at impact for greater forgiveness.

We’ll just have to wait and see what TaylorMade says about the new putters, and if they will become a retail offering in the future. In the meantime, enjoy photos of the four Truss models below.
