FIRST LOOK: Bettinardi’s limited-run Queen B 8 Slant neck putter

Tour feedback plays an integral role in the design of many putters, whether it’s those destined for the pro circuit or designs that eventually find their way to retail. The latest example is Bettinardi’s limited-run Queen B 8 Slant putter.

Through feedback from its Tour staff, which includes Fred Couples and Matt Kuchar, chief designer Robert J. Bettinardi created a wide-body blade with an engineered, one-piece milled slant neck. The neck is designed for the golfer who seeks “optimal toe-hang and offset that matches trends from the worlds best golfers on Tour.” The neck differs from the double bend found on the retail Queen B 8, which is geared for a straight back and through stroke.

Milled from soft carbon steel, the 357-gram QB8 is outfitted with a fine Flymill face milling for a softer feel at impact, and an “oil rubbed bronze” PVD finish with black and gold accents. The head is paired with a Made in USA black leather pebble headcover and black cowhide leather Gripmaster classic wrapped grip.

Bettinardi’s Queen B 8 Slant ($700) is limited to 300 pieces and will be available on the company’s website at 11 a.m. ET on Thursday.
