Ping Golf president John K. Solheim announced on Tuesday that the company will offer Arccos technology with Smart Grips and Sensors in every club through custom-order. Part of the agreement also includes Golf Pride as the exclusive supplier of the Arccos Smart Grip (Golf Pride 360 Tour Velvet), which features an embedded sensor that works in conjunction with the Arccos Caddie smart phone app.
When players purchase a “smart set” from Ping, it includes a free 90-day trial of a dedicated Ping version of Arccos Caddie. But in order to access it, players will need their complete set (including putter) outfitted with Smart Grips and Sensors. If players are pleased after the 90-day period, they will be able to purchase a one-year subscription for $99.99 through Arccos.
“With our long-time focus on data collection and the ability to improve product performance and custom-fitting techniques through expert analysis of a golfer’s tendencies on the golf course, it’s a tremendous opportunity for us to join with Arccos to help bring more visibility to the benefits of playing ‘smart’ golf,” Solheim said. “They’ve pioneered the game-tracking category and are recognized as the clear leader when it comes to providing on-course ‘caddie advice,’ performance tracking and post-round analysis. Now golfers can realize the benefits of the Arccos technology on Ping clubs through our custom-order program, which offers both the Smart Grip and Smart Sensor technologies.”
The Smart Sensor Putter ($10.50 each) is specifically designed for Ping putters and can be fitted into both fixed and adjustable-length steel shafts. The Smart Sensor Putter, Smart Grips, and Smart Sensors (screws into the top of most full-swing grips) are all available now through Ping’s custom order process.
