This $27 chiller will keep your golf course beer super cold

Truth be told, I’m not a big drinker on the golf course, partly because it’s so inconvenient. Lets say I grab a beer; for the next however many holes, I’m stuck carrying it around trying to make sure it doesn’t spill all over the place. Even if I’m in a golf cart, there’s always the ever-present threat of me hitting a random bump in the cart path that can send liquid everywhere. I once saw my coworker Tim Reilly get around this problem by drinking a beer with a lid and straw, which is just preposterous on so many levels (see below).

Temperature control is the other main issue. Countless times I’ve gotten a nice cold beer, step back outside the halfway house into 90 degree heat, hit one shot, and my drink is already leaning toward warm. By the time I finish the hole, it’s downright warm. If I was Tim I’d probably throw a few ice cubes in it, but that’s just not me.

Anyway, fast forward to today, when I went down a rabbit hole and stumbled across one of the moist interesting beverage chillers I’ve ever come across: the “HyperChiller,” which sells for $26.99

The way it works is pretty simple: You fill up the HyperChiller with water, screw the lid on, then throw it in the freezer. The water freezes into an insulated block of ice, which surrounds the liquid within. There’s a partition of steel between the ice and the other liquid to keep it cold without any dilution.

The HyperChiller holds 12.5 ounces of liquid, which is about the equivalent of one beer can, but you can of course fill it with other things: whisky (even though that’s half a bottle of whisky, which probably means you won’t make it out of the course alive), water, iced tea, etc. It looks pretty durable, too, so spilling doesn’t look like it’ll be too big of an issue.
