Adidas’ new CODECHAOS golf shoes feature an innovative spikeless traction system
Adidas has a new flagship golf shoe for 2020 that is set to hit retail stores in less than two weeks.
On Tuesday, the company unveiled the Adidas CODECHAOS shoe line, featuring several models of sporty, spikeless kicks for the golf course. The new shoes forgo traditional looks in favor of athletic, running-shoe style.
There are three different models in the new line — the CODECHAOS, CODECHAOS Boa, and CODECHAOS Sport — that come in a variety of colors for both men and women, but there are two primary technological advances that anchor them all.
First is the “Twistgrip” proprietary traction system, which is a TPU insert placed in the front area of the soft rubber outsole. The company came up with the Twistgrip system by analyzing heat maps of golfers’ swings to gain a better understanding of how weight is distributed and shifts during the swinging motion. Adidas then took that knowledge and created an insert specifically designed to create maximum traction, so your feet won’t slip if you opt to go spikeless.
In addition to the Twistgrip insert, the new CODECHOAS shoes ($150) feature a multi-layer mesh upper that makes them lightweight, but also durable and breathable, while a waterproof film keeps the mesh dry on water-logged courses. These innovations, paired with existing Adidas technology via a BOOST cushioning system and Torsion X stability bar, ensure that no performance is sacrificed for comfort.

If you love basketball-type shoes and/or hate tying up your shoe laces, you’re in luck. The CODECHAOS Boa model ($180) features a high-top style with the Boa laceless fitting system. A third model — the CODECHAOS Sport ($130) — offers even lighter construction and enhanced versatility along with advanced, hybrid cushioning to make them even more wearable.
Adidas’ new CODECHAOS, CODECHAOS Boa and CODECHAOS Sport golf shoes will be available for purchase starting Jan. 31, 2020 on adidas.com and at select retailers worldwide. You can check out more photos of the new shoes below.
