Nike RZN Tour Golf Balls, RZN Speed Golf Balls

January 5, 2016

Nike Golf is kicking off 2016 by introducing four new golf ball models, the RZN Tour Black and RZN Tour Platinum ($48/dozen) and the RZN Speed Red and RZN Speed White ($30/dozen). All four models will be available at nike.com on January 22 and at select retailers on January 29.

Nike’s updated RZN Tour series consists of the Black (aimed at players who want to limit spin on full shots) and the Platinum (targets golfers who prefer mid-spin). Both 4-piece models have an updated RZN core that’s 10 percent larger than last year’s RZN Black and RZN Platinum, which helps generate faster ball speeds. The core also has a slightly lower compression for a softer feel. In addition, the urethane cover has 344 dimples plus a whopping 13,558 micro dimples to promote a longer, more stable flight.

“The ball feels much softer, yet I’ve maintained my ball speed and even picked up a few yards overall,” said Rory McIlroy. “It’s easily the best combination of distance and feel I’ve ever played.”

Both RZN Speed balls have a 3-piece construction with ionomer cover and lower compression core than their big brothers, the RZN Tour/Black and RZN Tour/Platinum. This enables players with moderate to slow swing speeds to fully compress the ball. In addition, the core and mantle layer are bound together using the same technology that’s in the Tour balls, which provides efficient energy transfer at impact. Expect the Red version to carry farther while the White one feels softer.
